Jessie McFarland earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She worked as a Middle School educator for 13 years, and witnessed firsthand the stress and pressure that today’s children place on themselves both academically, socially and emotionally. After going back to school to increase her awareness and understanding of the whole child, she earned her certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a RYT Licensed Yoga Instructor, and a Mindfulness Educator.
As an Educational Consultant, Jessie created Wholesome Sprout with a mission of working with the whole child to create balance, joy, resilience, connection and nourishment. She has followed her passion to help bring these practices to schools and learners through Professional Development and her work as an Adjunct Professor. Jessie is a mother to two children, a runner and an adventurer.
Cate Liguori earned her BA in marketing. She worked as a buyer in the fashion industry for seven years where she greatly expanded her passion for art and design. When her first child was born she left her job to focus on motherhood. As a creative spirit Cate was always offering her young children process based art experiences. It was especially inspiring to Cate when her eldest daughter took a keen interest in science from an early age. Cate began finding creative ways to incorporate art and science exploration into her family’s everyday life and thus Little Wonderkin was born. Little Wonderkin is a mobile process based STEAM lab offering classes, workshops, birthday parties and camps for all ages. Cate found her true calling working with children and is forever committed to guiding young ones in the wonder of learning.
Cate also holds yoga and pilates certifications and is a mindfulness educator. She is a mother of two children and a lover of family dance parties, exploring new places and an adventurous trail run.
Katherine Chevalier is a college student at Franklin and Marshall college in Lancaster. She is pursuing a major in biology following the prevet track. She graduated in 2019 from Villa Maria Academy High School. Katherine has dedicated her time to her family, friends and many animals. When she is not in school and over summer breaks she has held jobs as both a steady babysitter and a camp counselor for children age 3-5. She has a passion for helping others and working with young children. She hopes to work to encourage and expand young interest in science and the arts. Katherine loves traveling and spending time with family and friends.
We believe life and learning are about the process, not the end result. At Camp Wonderkin learning will happen through exploration, example and environment. Projects are child led and process based allowing children to explore their own ideas and envision the possibilities. Children are encouraged to experiment and discover in ways that will help them become confident and creative thinkers.
