About Camp Wonderkin
Nestled in the rolling hills of beautiful Chester County and surrounded by forest and field, Natural Lands' ChesLen Preserve offers the perfect setting for Camp Wonderkin - a nature based STEAM camp designed for age 4-9 and led by science teacher and educational consultant, Jessie McFarland and owner and lead teacher of a STEAM based studio called Little Wonderkin, Cate Liguori. Each day of this unique camp experience will focus on various concepts of the STEAM acronym - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. We will be studying soil and stream, learning how to tap a maple tree, building leaf robots, experimenting with nature potions, making natural dyes, painting with natural tools and drying flowers to create mixed media wall hangings and nature wands. Children will also have the opportunity to contribute to a Natural Lands stewardship project. Natural Lands is a non-profit organization that saves open space, cares for nature and connects people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. We will spend valuable time connecting with nature each day as we practice yoga and mindfullness, take nature walks and develop our team building skills with fun and energizing games and activities. The week will end with a gallery walk displaying the children's creations.
